I haven't figured this out yet . . .
Every now and then, children get attached to the most bizarre objects. Take C, for example. Girl picks up pine cones like she’s found the most precious object there is. As if some fool would be so careless as to leave perfectly good pine cones strewn all over the ground.
Forget the fact that the sharp edges may poke and hurt her, these things are valuable!
I’ve given up trying to take away things the kids try to hoard (unless it can actually do them serious harm) because it’s just not worth the fight. If I have to go home with twenty pine cones or a pile of dead leaves that will be forgotten by dinner just to avoid a tantrum, so be it.
At least they’re not collecting wild animals. Not yet, anyway.
