I haven't figured this out yet . . .

Lunchtime With My Daughter: In Pictures

Lunch with C has recently been a frustrating experience. She’s gotten a bit of a temper about food. Like if she has to wait too long to see food put in front of her, or if the food is not getting to her mouth fast enough between bites, or even if I’ve decided she’s had enough to eat but she insists she needs more.

Keeping food from my daughter when she’s hungry can result in very scornful looks and violent swipes of her hand at the nearest face. Today, for example, was a typical meal with C.

I call this the calm before the storm. She often waits for her food with quiet anticipation.

I call this, mounting frustration. She's started eating so she's kind of happy, but she expects her food delivered with intravenous speed. When food takes too long to get to her mouth, it's fuss time.

The stiff arm is the preferred defensive move when she's not being offered a specific item in her lunch. For instance, if she's being offered rice instead of meat, or her water instead of a banana.

Sweet satisfaction! There isn't much the girl won't touch when it comes to food.

Mmm. A full tummy puts a smile on that cute face.

Too bad her tummy never seems to be full. This is the look of a girl who's not happy that lunchtime is over.

She is just so adorable, how you can ever say no to her, I don’t know. =)

Oh it’s easy. When she scowls and screams an unbearably high pitched scream. Without those conditions it just takes a tremendous amount of self control.
